Coronavirus: Middletown Seniors Urged To Join Meals On Wheels

Middletown is ecouraging senior residents to sign up for Meals on Wheels for daily food delivery and to avoid frequent grocery store trips.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Middletown seniors are encouraged to join Meals on Wheels during the coronavirus health crisis. Meals on Wheels will deliver five frozen meals without contact every Friday starting this week.

Joining Meals on Wheels will allow a more vulnerable population to ensure food most days and reduce trips to the grocery store during the state's "stay-at-home" order. Seniors can call 401-842-6556 to be placed on a list for the program. Space is limited, at this time, so residents are urged to call sooner rather than later.

Cities and tows throughout the state are looking for ways to connect with seniors and make sure they are taken care of during the coronavirus pandemic. North Kingstown has created a senior hotline for those needing food and medication delivery.
