The crew has been busy getting ready for weeks. The poles holding up the Frosty Freeze sign along East Main Road got a fresh coat of paint, for example.

This year is extra special for a variety of reasons. A big one is that it's the ice cream parlor's roots date back 60 years, to 1956, when Leo Cassidy first opened the doors to "Tastee Freez."
Now Frosty Freez, owners Kim and Mark Pachico have solidified the shop's place as a key island landmark, gathering spot and beacon of sweet, cool refreshment.
