Middletown Grades 6-12 To Resume In-Person Classes April 26

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Middletown Public Schools Superintendent Rosemarie K. Kraeger announced Wednesday that full-time in-person learning will be extended to grades 6-12 beginning Monday, April 26.

Although Middletown pre-K and elementary students have had access to full-time in-person learning since September, middle and high school students have been operating on a hybrid model.

Students who return to in-person classes will be required to maintain three feet of distance when wearing masks and six feet of distance when not wearing masks. The option to continue full-time distance learning will remain available for the rest of the school year.

Kraeger said the district will continue to monitor COVID-19 data and make adjustments to the reopening plan if conditions become worse.

"Thank you to all of the students, parents, and staff who completed our surveys to help guide these decisions," she said. "We look forward to having more students and staff in our schools in the weeks ahead. As always, I thank you for the continued cooperation that makes this important step forward possible."
