Middletown: Norman Bird Sanctuary 5K Set For Saturday
Police will close roads around the event to insure safety.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—The Norman Bird Sanctuary's Kid's Fun Run and the 5K are both set for Saturday, June 16. Middletown police will close roads around the events at 7:30 a.m. The roads (Third Beach Road, Hanging Rock Road, Indian Avenue and Sachuest Point Road) will be closed for one to two hours, and police said the impact on traffic should be "minimal." Motorists should use care, police said.
The first event, the Kids' Fun Run starts at 8 a.m. from Third Beach Road and the main entrance to the Norman Bird Sanctuary. The kids go to the corner of Third Beach and Hanging Rock roads, then turn around and do back.
The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. Runners head south on Third Beach Road to the intersection of Indian Avenue and Third Beach and Hanging Rock roads. They turn right onto Hanging Rock, then left onto Sachuest Point and turn around at Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge.

The return trip follows Sachuest Point Road west to Third Beach Road and then north to the Norman Bird Sanctuary entrance.
