Middletown Police Hosting Annual Holiday Toy Drive
Middletown police are collecting toys, gift cards and clothing for those in need, along with a fill-a-cruiser event, on Dec. 14.
MIDDLETOWN, RI — The Middletown Police Department is holding its annual toy drive and fill-a-cruiser event over the next two weeks. Middletown police are collecting new, unwrapped toys, gift cards and clothing to distribute to families as the holiday approaches.
Middletown police kicked off the toy drive on Nov. 25 and will collect items through Dec. 14. There will be a drop box for donations located at the station at 123 Valley Road, as well as at various school buildings in town. Middletown police will also hold a fill-a-cruiser event on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Aquidneck Shopping Center where Santa Claus and Middletown K-9 Tex will be making appearances.
Middletown police will be working with the Middletown School District, local housing authorities and the Rhode Island Department of Children and Young Families to distribute the collections. Police are seeking the names and addresses of town residents who could use a little help this holiday season. Those wishing to suggest a family as a toy drive recipient, or to make a monetary donation, can do so through contacting Community Policing Officer David Guerriero at 401-846-1144, ext 7023.
