Middletown Police Seek Witnesses In Fatal Hit-And-Run
Middletown police said they are hoping that drivers in the vicinity of Friday night's hit-and-run step forward.
MIDDLETOWN, RI — Middletown police are hoping that any drivers who were in the vicinity of a fatal hit-and-run on West Main Road Friday night will come forward to help the investigation.
Middletown police said video obtained showed a witness or driver headed south on the road about 11:15 who may have information on the hit-and-run. If that person, or anyone else in the vicinity of the hit-and-run, has information that can help the investigation they are asked to contact Middletown police at 401-846-1144.
Elias Velasquez Chavez, 40, of Newport, was riding his bicycle on West Main Road when he was killed. The vehicle suspected of hitting Chavez was not at the scene when police arrived.

A dark-colored sedan was reported driving behind the Dodge Charger or Challenger believed involved in the crash.
