MIDDLETOWN, RI —Peabody's Beach was recommended to reopen for swimming on Thursday after being closed due to high bacteria levels.

The Rhode Island Department of Health said bacteria levels in the water had returned to safe levels.

RIDOH said it will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout the summer.
