UPDATE: Newport County No Longer Under Tropical Storm Warning

Adventurers walked Third Beach on Sunday, despite the wind, gusts and waves.

UPDATE: 10:53 a.m. - The tropical storm warning for Rhode Island has been dropped.

MIDDLETOWN, RI -- Hermine may have packed her top wind speeds for Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts on Sunday, but the gusts and wild waves did not stop adventurers from walking Third Beach and even riding catamarans.

According to the National Weather Service in Taunton, the "main concern will be high surf and life threatening rip currents today and Wednesday at all ocean exposed Rhode Island and Massachusetts beaches." The Rhode Island South Coast, Block Island, Nantucket and the outer Cape on the ocean side could expect the worst of it. But the wind should ease up, compared to conditions on Sunday.
