Newport Marathon Will Close Some Roads Oct. 8: Middletown Police
The races starts and ends in Newport, but the middle goes through, well, Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—The Newport Marathon starts and ends in the City by the Sea. But the middle of the race goes through Middletown. Police are alerting motorists to use caution on Oct. 8 if they're driving near the runners, who will be out on the roads from 7:30 a.m. to about 2 p.m.
Middletown police said roughly half of the race is being run in Middletown. Here is the route per the Middletown police.
"The race route is as follows: The Marathon will begin in Newport and will enter Middletown at the Beach line on Purgatory Road. The course will go east on Purgatory road, right onto Tuckerman Ave, right onto Purgatory Road, (east end of Tuckerman Ave), right onto Sachuest Point Road all the way to the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge. Runners will turn around and head west on Sachuest Point Road, right onto 3rd beach connector, left on 3rd Beach Road, north on 3rd Beach Road, right onto Indian Avenue, north on Indian Avenue just past Old Mill Lane in Portsmouth. The runners will then turn around on Indian Avenue and head south on Indian Avenue, right at Old Mill Lane, left at Wapping Road, left onto Peckham Avenue, right onto Vaucluse Avenue, head south on Indian Avenue, straight onto Hanging Rock Road, and then right onto Sachuest Point Road. The runners will then make a left onto Purgatory Road, left onto Tuckerman Avenue, left onto Purgatory Road and end at Easton’s Beach in Newport."
