Obituary: Doris C. Robinson, 91, Newport Women's League Chaplain

Doris Carol Robinson, 91, of Middletown passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at John Clarke Health Care Center in Middletown, RI.

Mrs. Robinson was born July 19, 1925 in Colerain, NC, she was raised by her grandparents, completed public education and then moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she met her husband, William H. Robinson Jr.

Doris worked as a secretary for many years at Brown University in Providence, RI. She was involved in the Aquidneck Island community as the chaplain for the Newport Woman’s League, a member of the NAACP and a volunteer for the Robert Potter League’s Walk for the Animals. She liked to do pencil sketching.

She leaves a niece, cousins, godchildren and many friends.

Doris was predeceased by her husband William H. Robinson Jr. Harvard PhD in English in 1998.

Calling hours will be held on Friday August 26, 2016 from 4-7pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday August 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.

Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI
