Road Race Sunday Goes Through Middletown
On Sunday, August 6, a running portion of the Race the State race will be taking place in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Police want to alert the public about a road race in Town. On Sunday, August 6, a running portion of the Race the State race will be taking place in Middletown. The Middletown Police Department will provide traffic control for the event. The race is scheduled to enter Middletown around 7:15 a.m. and should be completed by 9:30 a.m., the police said.

The route for this race will start at the Third Beach Boat ramp parking lot. Runners will exit the parking lot and turn left onto Third Beach Road. Runners will then turn right to run west on Sachuest Point Road. They will turn left to head south up Purgatory Road and then left onto Tuckerman Avenue (the east side of Tuckerman Avenue). Runners will once again merge onto Purgatory Road at the west end of Tuckerman Avenue and head west into Newport.
The Middletown Police Department requests that motorists use care when driving in the area on race day.
