Water Service Briefly Disrupted Following Middletown Water Break
National Grid workers hit a water main on Valley Road Thursday morning, shutting off water service to the area.
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- UPDATED 12 p.m.: Water service was restored in Middletown just before noon on Thursday after construction workers hit a water main on Valley Road, leaving residents in the area without water.
According to Newport water department officials, National Grid workers hit the pipe a little before 10 a.m. while installing a utility pole. Middletown Police confirmed that service was restored just before 12 p.m.
An employee who works in an office building on Hammarlund Way said water was coming out of the tap brown after service was restored.
