What a Bazaar Weekend!
Portsmouth Senior Center Did It Again. The Annual Holiday Bazaar was a great success.
Members of the Portsmouth Multipurpose Senior Center did it again. Last weekend’s annual holiday bazaar was a great success. Located at 110 Bristol Ferry Road in Portsmouth, the Center is a private, non-profit community focal point for residents of Newport County and surrounding communities. The Center not only offers a broad spectrum of services to those 55 and older, including nutritional, educational, and recreational activities, it offers a great opportunity for socialization and the ability to share their knowledge and skills.
If you where looking for gift baskets, custom jewelry, ornaments, coordinated and crafted by Ruth Costa and Joan DeNardo, or that special handmade baby blanket or Patriot’s team blanket the Center was the place to be. Jeanne Paradis did a wonderful job organizing and maintained the White Elephant room and Domestic Table. With over hundreds of books and thousands of DVDs on display, along with numerous other donated items for sale, there’s no doubt there was something for everyone.
Perhaps the most unique of all was the winter accessory table. The hand-knitted & crocheted hats, scarves, mittens, and sweaters were spectacular. Truly skilled craftswomenship by Jeanne Paradis. Thanks to many blessed and gifted volunteers, and hundreds of hours over many many months for designing and crafting special gifts to keep your loved ones warm during the winter months. For those who were unable to attend the bazaar, don’t worry. These lovely creations will be available in the Thrift Store. The Thrift Shop is open Monday to Friday 9:30-noon and 1:00-3:00 p.m. At prices $4 and up, you don’t want to miss out.

Bill Medeiros, Paul St. Laurent, and Paul Keating effortlessly ran the kitchen and served up their delicious menu items. Meanwhile, Ruth Costa’s bake sale table was filled with a variety of specially made items, pies, cookies, zucchini bread and carrot cakes. All were available for on the spot sweet tooth and take-home dessert. Yum.
Thank you to all those who donated to the basket raffles, money, gift cards, etc...
