Solar Observing Session: STAR Astronomy Club will be on hand with special filter telescopes to observe the spots on the sun. This event will take place near the entrance of the building. Regiser online at mtpl.org. Monday, May 1st @ 3:30 pm; rain date Tuesday, May 2nd.

Introduction to Typing: New to computers? Want to learn how to type better on the keyboard? After a brief introductory video, we will be doing various exercises on the keyboard to become familiar with typing. Tuesday, May 2nd @ 3:30 pm.

Introduction to Excel: Learn the basics - columns vs. rows, overview on creating sheets and tabs, how to enter and edit data, incorporate formulas, and create charts. Thursday, May 4th @ 3:30 pm.

BCUG – Word: Discuss your Word problems with the experts in this drop-in group. For advanced users, not a class for beginners. Thursday, May 4th @ 6:30 pm.

Write Club: We will do a writing prompt at each meeting, work on personal writing projects, and share with each for constructive feedback. Monday, May 1st @ 3:30 pm.

Peer Tutoring: High school honor students tutor in Spanish, French, Science, History and English/Language Arts. For grades 6-9, Monday, May 1st @ 7:00 pm.

Math Tutoring: Free tutoring sessions at the library in the Children’s Quiet Reading Area. Bring textbook and/or homework. Tutoring sessions are for 30 minutes and are scheduled at 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. Upon registering, you will receive an email with your tutoring session time. Tutors are volunteer high school honors students. Tutoring for Calculus and above is not available. Tuesday, May 2nd .

Table Top Gaming: We play unique board games including many featured on the YouTube series Table Top with Wil Wheaton. Wednesday, May 3rd @ 7:00 pm.

Physics Study Group: Study for tests, bring your homework, and ask any questions you may have. Work together to improve your Physics skills. Thursday, May 4th @ 4:30 pm.

Chess: If you haven’t played before, we will teach you. Planning, confidence, patience and discipline are all benefits of playing chess. We just think it’s fun. No registration required. Friday, May 5th @ 3:30 pm.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand: We will the book Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand by Liz, Jay and Alex Scott and share information and ideas about how you can create your own lemonade stand to benefit the fight against pediatric cancer. Thursday, May 4th @ 3:45 pm.

Screen-Free Week: rediscover the joys of life beyond the screen. Unplug from digital entertainment and spend all that free time playing, daydreaming, creating, exploring and connecting with family and friends! One great way to unplug is reading books! Screen-Free Week is also Children’s Book Week! Visit the library for special crafts, book raffles and programs! For all ages. Every day, all week.

Elephant & Piggie Thank-o-Rama Storytime: May is THANK-O-Rama Month! Let’s celebrate The Thank You Book, the LAST book in the Elephant and Piggie series by Mo Willems! Share a special storytime with us in the Children's Outdoor Reading Garden. For ages 4+. Monday, May 1st @ 4:00 pm.

Magical Musical Me: A fun and interactive music and movement experience. We sing, dance, wiggle, giggle and shake. We play with instruments and fun props, listen to a musical story, and play a real guitar! For ages 2-6. Tuesday, May 2nd @ 10:00 am.

Kids Playgroup: A playgroup that encourages children to explore hands-on activities and develop social skills. Grown-ups can chat and connect with other parents/caregivers while supervising their children’s play. A Drop-In program for all ages. Tuesday, May 2nd @ 10:30 am.

Toddler Time for Walkers: Toddlers learn by playing, moving, touching, making noise, looking at books, and being loved. Each toddler should bring a favorite grown-up to share in the fun and learning. For ages up to 30 months. Thursday, May 4th @ 10:00 am.

Lapsit Storytime for Pre-Walkers: Introduce your baby to the library during this gentle lapsit program for pre-walkers accompanied by a grown-up. Rhymes, songs, puppets, and picture books encourage language development. Grown-ups get to socialize with other adults. Babies get used to being around other babies. For ages up to 32 months. Friday, May 5th @ 10:00 am.

Reading Buddies: Children will be paired with a buddy to practice their reading skills by reading out loud. Studies show reading for about 20 minutes each day will improve children’s skills, especially if they read to someone! For ages 3-9. Saturday, May 6th @ 2:00 pm.
