What's Open & What's Closed Thanksgiving Day
Rhode Island's Blue Laws mean stores are closed on Thanksgiving, but the CVS 24-hour stores remain open. And lots of restaurants.
NEWPORT, RI — Almost all stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, due to Rhode Island's Blue Laws.
This includes the grocery chains:
Stop & Shop: Closed.

Shaw's: Closed.
CVS is the exception. Its 24-hour store in Aquidneck Plaza, East Main Road, Middletown, for example, will be open all day on the holiday. Other CVS stores may keep special holiday hours.

And plenty of restaurants stay open for Thanksgiving, including the Inn at Castle Hill, One Bellevue at Hotel Viking, The Spiced Pear at the Chanler, and 22 Bowen.
