Who Knew? The Patriots Have an 'Official' Supermarket

The Stop & Shop used its special connection with the team to deliver good-luck messages from the fans.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Malcolm Butler, hero of Super Bowl XLIX, took a minute this weekend to look at a good-luck note one of the fans sent him. Sure, he's a special player, but he wasn't the only Patriot to receive a personal note of thanks for all the fun the team has brought to Patriots nation.

This past weekend, according to Philip Tracey, of Stop & Shop, the store delivered hundreds of good-luck letters written by customers and fans alike to Gillette Stadium as the Patriots prepared to depart for Sunday’s big game. Players such as Malcolm Butler, Danny Amendola, Dont’a Hightower, Legarrette Blount and Chris Long were among those present when receiving the letters, she said.

From pump-up messages to notes of thanks, customers offered small pieces of advice and thanked the team for the spirit they have sparked throughout New England over the years.

Stop & Shop, Tracey said, is the Patriots' official supermarket.
