3 RI Restaurants Make OpenTable's Top 100

And all three are in the same city.

Newport has an embarrassment of culinary riches. The Rhode Island city got three restaurants featured on OpenTable's list of the 100 best restaurants in the country for 2018.

The three restaurant's were Rhode Island's only entries on the list. Not bad for a state that didn't even crack last year's top 100.

Here are the restaurants that made this year's list:

Bouchard Restaurant and Inn

This Thames Street spot is a bit fancy - business attire is required and the restaurant's "style" makes it inappropriate for children under the age of 7. Bouchard offers fine French cuisine in a 1785 Georgian-style house, according to OpenTable's review. The menu has main offerings ranging from the lows $20s to the low $40s.

The Dining Room at Castle Hill Inn

An Ocean Ave. offering that specializes in seafood, this spot "has been the backdrop of memorable occasions for over a century, residing inside a historic mansion built in 1875," OpenTable said. The menu offer meals consisting of a different number of courses at different prices.

The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn

"The epitome of classic New England dining, our rolling lawn is a timeless Newport icon," the website says. The Lawn is more casual than the Dining Room, both at Castle Hill Inn. No one says you can't do both. Here's the menu.

Newport alone had two more entries in top 100 list than Massachusetts did. New York landed a leading 24 restaurants on the list. California was second with 15, followed by Illinois (nine) and Texas (eight.)

The list is driven by reviews between Nov. 1, 2017 and Oct. 31, 2018. OpenTable considered more than 28,000 restaurants.

"The 100 Best Restaurants in America list gives voice to OpenTable's diner community by honoring the restaurants they love to visit and that consistently provide dining experiences that delight time and again," said Caroline Potter, Chief Dining Officer at OpenTable.
