Boots On The Ground Memorial Opens At Fort Adams State Park
The display is free to the public and will be open throughout the holiday weekend.
NEWPORT, RI — Operation Stand Down Rhode Island's Boots on the Ground for Heroes memorial is back for 2021. The striking display, which honors the members of the armed forces who died during the War on Terror, will be open throughout the holiday weekend.
The display was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, it is once again set up at Fort Adams State Park in Newport. It will be open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Operation Stand Down has set up the display every year since 2016. This year will include a special, separate display honoring those who took their own lives due to post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health conditions.
