Carnival, Circus Coming To Former Newport Casino Parking Lot

NEWPORT, RI — Summer is a time of warm nights and late bedtimes, and what better way to celebrate that than at a classic carnival? Newport residents have that chance all week long at the Newport YMCA's summer carnival, which will be at the former Newport Grand Casino parking lot on Admiral Kalfbus Road from July 9 through 14.

The evening carnival will be open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., closing one hour earlier on Sunday. The event will feature rides and performances by the Kelly Miller Circus throughout the week.

Each day, unlimited ride wristbands will be available for $30, while individual tickets will be available for $1 each, 25 tickets for $20 or 40 tickets for $30. Each ride takes between three and five tickets. All children must be at least 36 inches tall to ride, and some rides require an adult to accompany children.

Kelly Miller Circus is a traveling circus that was founded in 1938, featuring a variety of performers in its shows.
