Disney's 'Hocus Pocus 2' To Film In RI This Fall: Report

NEWPORT, RI — Nearly three decades after the Halloween cult classic "Hocus Pocus" first spooked kids across America, filming is set to start on its sequel this fall.

Disney confirmed the sequel in May, with trio Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy confirming they will reprise their iconic roles as the Sanderson Sisters. The film is set to debut on DisneyPlus, the company's premium streaming service.

But what's that got to do with Rhode Island?

Even though the movie takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, some filming is set to take place here in the Ocean State, according to the DisInsider blog. Disney has not officially confirmed the filming locations, which the blog reported to include Connecticut and Los Angeles as well as Rhode Island.

According to the blog, filming is set to start Oct. 5.
