Election 2018: How Newport Voted
Find out where Newport stood on the candidates and the statewide ballot questions.

NEWPORT, RI — Color Newport blue, and bluer than most of the rest of Rhode Island on election day. The city residents voted overwhelmingly Democratic on Nov. 6. The canvasser's office on Thursday did not have an official number for voter turnout. Although turnout was high statewide for a midterm election, it would appear fewer than half of the city's 15,386 voters cast a ballot.
Gov. Gina Raimondo, the incumbent Democrat, collected roughly 52 percent of the vote statewide, but in Newport, she won almost 70 percent.
