Extreme Heat Leads To Trash Delays In Newport
Residents are asked to keep their bins at the curb if their trash and recycling were not picked up on the usual day.
NEWPORT, RI — Some Newport residents may have experienced delays in trash pickup this week, thanks to the dangerously hot weather. Anyone whose bins were not emptied is asked to leave them at the curb until Waste Management is able to get them.
"Unfortunately, the extreme heat has taken its toll on both Waste Management's trucks and staff members, which has resulted in missed collections earlier in the week," the city said in a statement.
Crews are working to make up for all missed collections, and will continue into Saturday if needed.
