Father’s Day Hike at Ballard Park on June 18

The Friends of Ballard Pike are acting as guides and will talk about the park's history, as well as point out habitats.

NEWPORT, RI — Looking for something fun to do on Father's Day? The Friends of Ballard Park is hosting a Father’s Day Hike on Sunday, June 18th. It starts at 11 a.m., and promises to be a great activity for kids to do with dad. (Moms are welcome, too). Friends of Ballard Park staff will lead hikers through the thirteen nature preserves. They'll provide information on the park's history, unique features and habitats, such as a vernal pond, woodland forest and quarry meadow. Trails are rugged and steep in areas so proper footwear (sneakers, hiking boots) is recommended. Meet at the quarry meadow entrance at 21 Hazard Road. $10 suggested donation per family. The hike will take about an hour. Visit www.ballardpark.org or call 619.3377 for more information.
