FCP Live-In provides a unique and customized in-home care assistance approach to senior care, with a lifestyle that offers enjoyment to clients and peace of mind to their families. Kevin Williams is a Care Coordinator with FCP Live-In and remembers the poignant moment when the adult child of a client pulled him aside, teary-eyed, to say, "Thank you for allowing me to be her daughter again." Williams says, "Even when there are multiple family members taking shifts to try to care for their loved one, caregiver burnout rears its ugly head more often than not. Those words let me know-how needed and appreciated FCP Live-In can be to families."

Alison O'Rourke was caring for her husband, who was in end-stage cancer. So, O'Rourke reached out to FCP Live-In an agency that provides live-in caregiving services. FCP Live-In representative Kevin Williams came to O'Rourke's home on a holiday weekend. Alison was desperate as a hospital wanted to send her terminally ill husband to a nursing home, but O'Rourke did not want him to be alone and quarantined for two weeks. Yet, she knew that she could not care for him by herself at home. "The hospital wanted to send him to a nursing home where he would have been quarantined for two weeks and would have been all alone. FCP Live-In sent a representative to my home on a holiday weekend, and three days later, we had a CNA. Not only did he help with my husband, but he also cooked, cleaned, and washed dishes," she says. While O'Rourke's husband passed away just four days later, she is grateful it wasn't in the nursing home where he would have been alone. "All he wanted to do was come home, and FCP Live-In made that happen."

"Simply stated, I would never have been able to bring my husband home from the hospital if it hadn't been for FCP Live-In," O'Rourke said.

O’Rourke is among hundreds of clients who rely on FCP Live-In’s affordable one-on-one live-in home care for their aging loved ones who want to live independently in their own homes.

"FCP Live-In is about Caring for People"

FCP Live-In's priority is to ensure that its live-in caregivers provide the services older adults need to age in place with dignity.

"Now more than at any other time, I feel every day, is a blessing, and our seniors deserve the opportunity to stay comfortable, cared for, and supported where they feel their best: in their own home," said Andrea Maroto, FCP Live-In's regional sales manager.

According to statistics from the National Institutes of Health, caregivers are expected to be in demand since the number of U.S. adults age 65 and over is projected to increase from 48 million to 88 million by 2050.

As a result of living longer, the aging population will have more ailments later in life, said Susan Sampson, RN, BSN, and Director of Caregiver Services at FCP Live-In. Regardless of their frailties, however, older adults want to maintain their independence.

"[We] understand this, and that's why we take a proactive approach to caring for all of our clients and work closely with their families to provide the best care each individual client needs," Sampson said.

Some seniors decide to move into assisted living facilities to get the help they need with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, and mobility. FCP Live-In's live-in caregivers provide the same services as staff at an assisted living facility. Unlike staff members assigned multiple residents to care for each day, FCP Live-In caregivers focus their attention on one client.

"FCP Live-In is about caring for people," said David Anthony, FCP Live-In's Founder and CEO. "I founded this company because the options are limited when it comes to caring for a loved one. Right now, you either have a home health aide who comes to the home for a few hours, or a loved one needs to go into an assisted living facility. But what if you take the best of both? That's FCP Live-In."

FCP Live-In Focuses on Families' Needs

FCP Live-In customizes in-home care services to accommodate the unique needs of clients. All of the agency's nurse's aides, home health aides, and personal aides have at least two years of professional experience. What's more, FCP-Live-In conducts full state and federal background checks on its employees, and all live-in caregivers are bonded and insured.

Generally, adult children are the first ones to care for their aging parents. Eventually, the pressure of taking care of a parent or other older adult relative while juggling a career and raising their own families takes a financial, emotional, and physical toll on family members.

Kevin Williams, an FCP Live-In care coordinator, recalls an instance when an adult child of a client—moved with the compassionate care given to her mother—pulled him aside, teary-eyed, to say, "Thank you for allowing me to be her daughter again."

"Even when there are multiple family members taking shifts to try to care for their loved one, caregiver burnout rears its ugly head more often than not," Williams said. "Those words let me know-how needed and appreciated FCP Live-In can be to families."

Although O'Rourke's husband passed away four days after he started receiving care from FCP Live-In, she said she was glad her husband was not in a nursing home where he would have been alone.

"All he wanted to do was come home, and FCP Live-In made that happen."
