Gas Prices Continue To Climb Across Rhode Island

AAA Northeast says gas prices have increased another two cents per gallon over the past week, and prices are only expected to keep rising.

Gas prices continue to climb in Rhode Island, rising an average of two cents per gallon in the last week. The average price per gallon in the state is now $2.55. This is 14 cents lower than the national average of $2.69.

This time last year, the average cost per gallon was five cents higher at $2.60. Prices have been steadily climbing over the past few weeks, and experts say there isn't a likely end in sight.

"Three months ago motorists across the country could find gas for less than $2.50 at 78 percent of gas stations. Today, you can only find gas for that price at one third of the stations," said Lloyd Albert of AAA Northeast. "Supplies have been steadily decreasing since early February causing spikes at the pump that are likely to continue throughout April and into May."
