Lane Closure Planned For Newport Bridge Jan. 24

NEWPORT, RI — A temporary, single-lane closure is planned for the Newport Bridge from Thursday night into Friday. Delays are possible heading into the city, especially during the morning commute.

The left lane will be closed on the eastbound side of the bridge until 2:30 p.m., the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said. The closure is needed for "additional necessary work discovered during current bridge deck repairs."

Delays are possible during the Friday morning commute, the department said, asking drivers to take it into consideration when heading into the city.
