Newport Bridge: One Lane Temporarily Closed Eastbound Side
An accident earlier Friday near the ramp to the eastbound side of the bridge has been cleared, but crews are working to repair damage.
NEWPORT, RI -- An accident earlier Friday near the ramp to the eastbound side of the bridge has been cleared, but crews are working to repair damage. Some railings were damaged. The state Turnpike and Bridge Authority said the closure could last for several hours. The worst case would be around 9:15 p.m.
#NPBridge ALERT: Eastbound right lane will remain closed for approximately 3-5 hours to allow our workers to put safety barriers in place of the damaged railings from the earlier accident. We appreciate your patience as we work to make the eastbound lanes safe for travel.
