Newport: Car Into Building

NEWPORT, RI — A driver suffered minor injuries when his car slammed into a house at 23 Bowery. The accident happened Tuesday night around 7:16 p.m. According to Newport police, the car went into the building near the gas and electrical meters. The building inspector was called to assess the structural damage, while National Grid and the fire department dealt with the meters. The 66-year-old driver was arrested and is suspected of Driving under the influence, police said. His name was not available Tuesday night.
