Newport Named Among 50 Best Beach Towns In U.S.
Newport was named one of the best seaside destinations in the country by Parade.
NEWPORT, RI — With a nickname like "The Ocean State" and hundreds of miles of coastline, it is common knowledge that Rhode Island is a seaside destination. One of the most popular beach towns, Newport, was named among the best in the country by Parade.
The list included some of the country's most iconic beach towns, including Montauk, New York, Ocean City, New Jersey and Santa Barbara, California.
"When it comes to coastal towns, Newport ... reigns supreme," Parade wrote, highlighting the beautiful views of the Cliff Walk, the historic mansions, shopping districts and delicious restaurant selections.

New England had a large presence on the list, with Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut all highlighted.
