NEWPORT, RI — The Newport Police Department is inviting the city's restaurant and bar owners to an informational meeting ahead of the busy summer season. Business owners can ask questions about coronavirus restrictions, their concerns and what kinds of enforcement they can expect from the department.

The meeting will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 6. It will be at Bazarsky Hall in the O'hare Building at Salve Regina University to allow for proper social distancing. The department is working to allow for remote attendance via Zoom, with more information forthcoming.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, all in-person attendees must RSVP in advance and will be required to fill out a health screening form upon entry. Email Officer Merrie Scott mscott@cityofnewport.com by March 2 to attend.
