Newport Traffic Advisory: Delays Near Spring Street Tuesday

According to city officials, the work marks the end to the temporary traffic pattern test initiated in July by city council.

NEWPORT, RI - Drivers traveling through the intersection of Spring and Touro Streets on Tuesday should expect delays as city crews begin work to re-open Court House Street to vehicular traffic.

According to city officials, the work marks the end to the temporary traffic pattern test initiated in July by city council at the request of the Historic Spring Leadership Committee.

"The committee has been working for the last several years to convert the former Coffey's Garage into a park to commemorate the ideals of religious liberty and tolerance upon which Newport was founded," the city posted on its official Facebook page.
