Newport's 2021 Yard Waste Collection Schedule
Yard waste bags and bins can be placed at the curbside for pickup on the resident's regular trash day during certain weeks.
NEWPORT, RI — Spring has arrived in Rhode Island, leading many Newport residents to take advantage of the warm weather and start clearing out winter debris from their yards. If you've already begun filling up yard waste bags, don't place them at the curb for pickup just yet.
The city had a special one-week pickup at the beginning of March, but will not bring back regular yard waste collection until April, when collection will happen every week. Residents are asked to place their yard waste at the curb with their trash and recycling bins on their regular pickup day.
Waste must be placed in large paper bags or a trash barrel clearly marked "yard waste." Plastic bags will not be accepted. Branches less than four inches in diameter and under three feet long can be bundled at placed alongside bags. Yard waste only stickers are not required, the DPW said.
