Newport's 4th Of July Fireworks To Return In 2021

Last year's display was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

NEWPORT, RI — Following last year's forced cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic, Newport's fireworks are coming back for Independence Day 2021.

"We're thrilled to be able to announce the return of the City's Fourth of July Fireworks display over Newport Harbor!" the city said in the announcement.

The fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m. July 4, with a rain date of July 5. The event will have COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

As part of the effort to make the display "bigger and better than ever," the city is launching a fundraising campaign for both businesses and individuals. Anyone interested in making a donation can send a check, payable to the City of Newport, with "fireworks fund" on the memo line. Checks can be mailed to:
