Newport's Daffodil Days Daffy Scavenger Hunt Underway
There are more than 1,200 daffodils blooming throughout the city. Can you find them all?

NEWPORT, RI — Spring has sprung in Rhode Island, which means one thing in Newport: it's daffodil season. This April, the city is encouraging visitors and residents to go on a scavenger hunt around the city to find out just how many blooms there are.
There are more than 1,200 daffodil bulbs in Rhode Island, but you don't have to count them all, one by one. Instead, the scavenger hunt includes four fields of flowers. At each, there is a stake with a painted daffodil and a black number. Add all the numbers up, and you'll have the total number of bulbs donated to the city by Daffodillion over the years.

- Ballard Park, on Hazard Road
- Along the Cliff Walk at Salve Regina University
- Memorial Boulevard, across from Easton's Beach
- Dunlap-Wheeler Park
Submissions can be emailed to the Newport Recreation Department at cjohnson@cityofnewport.com with the subject "daffy hunt." All entrants with the correct number will be eligible for the grand prize. Everyone with a correct entry can pick up a special daffodil pin at The Black Dog store on Thames Street.
All scavenger hunt participants are reminded not to pick the city's daffodils.
