Rhode Island Gas Prices Down 3 Cents Heading Into September
Over the past week, the average price per gallon fell to $2.56.
Gas prices have been slowly falling in Rhode Island throughout the end of the summer. Over the past week, the average cost per gallon fell by three cents, bringing it to $2.56, AAA Northeast said.
Rhode Island's average price is just a penny lower than the national average of $2.57.
Even as Hurricane Dorian approaches the U.S. Southeast, prices are not expected to climb here in New England.

"As an east coast storm, Hurricane Dorian is not threatening major oil and gas infrastructure so its impact is localized to its path along the east coast," said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs and Traffic Safety. "For New England and the rest of the country, demand, which remains high, is chipping away at supply, but not at a high enough rate to increase gas prices."
