Rhode Island Gas Prices Hold Steady Over Past Week
Following weeks of sharp rises, gas prices held steady at $2.86 over the past week.

Following weeks of climbing prices, the average price for a gallon of gas in Rhode Island leveled out over the past week, holding steady at $2.86 per gallon. Rhode Island's average price is the same as the national average. This time last year, the average price was four cents higher at $2.90 per gallon.
"The move to more stable gas prices indicates that supply and demand are potentially leveling out," said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. "However, there are many factors that could quickly push up prices, including the impact of Chinese tariffs, a spike in demand or the volume of Memorial Day travel. Pump price movements this week will indicate if motorists will continue to see stable gas prices or if this was just a one-week fad."
Across the state, gas prices range 30 cents, from $2.69 to $2.99.
