Rhode Island Weather Forecast: 'Heavy' Snow Incoming, Another Potential Blizzard, How Much Did We Get?
More snow is expected as soon as tonight, and lots more Sunday into Monday. How much are we getting, and how much did we already get?

Just as Rhode Island awoke to shovel out cars from under more than a foot of snow courtesy of Winter Storm Niko, word dropped of another storm around the corner. Another potentially big storm is on the horizon, with some "appetizer" snow as soon as tonight.
The storm that could do some damage is expected to start as a wintry mix Sunday into a snowstorm Monday with blizzard potential. It's early, but the preliminary forecasts are harrowing.
"Snow, heavy at times, is probable over at least parts of New England, most likely over eastern New England, possibly including the Boston metro," Weather.com wrote. The forecast makes no specific mention of Rhode Island, but it appears it will suffer a fate similar to Boston.

There is still much to be determined, the website says, but the peak of the storm is expected to be late Sunday into Monday. That includes potentially damaging winds and blizzard conditions, and it would make for terrible travel yet again. Subscribe to your local Patch to keep up on weather and other local updates.
Still a couple of days out, the National Weather Service apparently has some more uncertainty about how much snow will fall.

Before we get to Sunday-Monday's potential blizzard, Friday night will bring a few more inches of snow to Rhode Island. Snowfall totals are expected to be between 2-3 inches, with the low end being more on the South Coast.

And more bad news (unless you're a penguin): Late next week could bring yet another major snowstorm between Wednesday and Friday. Weather.com says it is still too early to know if that system will develop at all.
