Rhode Island's Boots On The Ground Memorial Returns May 28
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island is looking for sponsors for the annual Memorial Day Weekend display.
NEWPORT, RI — After the in-person display was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Boots On The Ground Memorial will return to Fort Adams this Memorial Day weekend.
Every year since 2016, Operation Stand Down Rhode Island sets up a display of more than 7,000 boots with flags in them, each honoring a member of the U.S. military killed in the War on Terror. The 2021 display will feature a special, separate display honoring those who took their own lives due to post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health conditions.
The organization is still looking for sponsors for this year's display. Interested businesses can register online.
