RI Marks First 80-Degree Day of 2021, More To Come This Week

NEWPORT, RI — Rhode Island marked its first 80-degree day of 2021 over the weekend, and more summerlike temperatures are in the forecast for the coming week.

Saturday was the first time Providence reached 80 degrees since Sept. 25, 2020, according to The National Weather Service. After a mostly chilly start to spring, summery temperatures are in the forecast for the week ahead.

Expect temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s throughout the week, with a chance of showers throughout the day on Tuesday. Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week, with highs expected to reach 81 amid clear, sunny skies.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
