RI Weather: Chance Of Severe Afternoon Thunderstorms

Showers are likely across the state throughout the afternoon and evening, with the possibility of a brief, severe thunderstorm.

NEWPORT, RI — Rhode Island is at a slight risk of brief, severe thunderstorms on Tuesday. There is a chance of passing showers across the state throughout the afternoon and evening hours, with the possibility of severe weather.

The National Weather Service put the whole state under a "marginal" risk of severe weather from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., meaning that isolated severe thunderstorms are possible. If they do arrive, expect storms to be short in duration or coverage area.

More summerlike weather is expected to arrive Wednesday, with temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s with clear skies throughout the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
