The northern part of the state could see as much as half a foot of accumulation.

As snowflakes fall across much of Rhode Island and Southern New England, the National Weather Service is now expecting most communities in the state to see more accumulation that initially expected.
Tuesday morning, NWS said that the snow was likely to start after 4 p.m., with most of Rhode Island seeing one to two inches of accumulation. By early evening, those totals were raised in the central and northern parts of the state, with two to three inches expected in Coventry and as much as half a foot in Providence and all points north.
A winter weather advisory is in place for the top third of the state and nearly all of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
