If you'd rather skip the traffic, there are several alternative transportation options. Newport's water shuttle carries passengers from Perrotti Park to Fort Adams, and boats will run continuously throughout festival days. Tickets cost $8 one-way or $15 round trip, cash only. The shuttle is wheelchair accessible.
A second ferry runs from Jamestown to Newport, leaving from One East Ferry Wharf and stopping at Perrotti Park and Fort Adams. These ferries will also run continuously throughout the festival, and round-trip tickets cost $26 for adults or $10 for children.
Festival attendees coming from Providence can also choose to take the Providence to Newport fast ferry, which runs from India Point and docks at America's Cup Avenue, about five miles from the fort.
Bicycles are strongly encouraged. HiRoad insurance and Bike Newport teamed up for the festival, providing "Park and Bike" lots where attendees can park outside of the city for free and bike the rest of the way to Fort Adams, skipping the traffic. HiRoad signs will be posted in the area to help direct bikers.
Tickets
While the festival is officially sold out, the festival sponsors an official ticket exchange service on a first-come, first-served basis. The tickets are guaranteed to be safe and he festival prevents price gouging, a large problem on other ticket resale sites.
