Spring Surprise: Late-Season Snow Falls In Rhode Island
Some parts of the state saw more than an inch of measurable accumulation.

PROVIDENCE, RI — There's an old saying in New England: if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes. Rhode Island woke up to an unexpected spring sight Friday morning: snow. While most residents only have a dusting, some areas saw more than an inch of measurable accumulation.
Southern New England was hit with some late-season winter weather starting Thursday. Gardner, Massachusetts reported 5 inches of accumulation Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Here in Rhode Island, snowfall reports have been sparse, with measureable amounts mostly confined to the northwest corner of the state. Burrillville reported an inch and a half around 7 a.m., while a whopping 3.1 inches were recorded in Foster at 8:40 a.m. Find the full map on the NWS's website.
