Two Die After Waves Sweep Woman Off Rocks: Fort Wetherill
The two were fishing, the state Department of Environmental Management said.

JAMESTOWN, RI—A man and woman have died after going into the water off Fort Wetherill State Park, the state Department of Environmental Management said. The accident happened around 9:30 Sunday morning. The two were believed to have been fishing from the rocks, when a wave swept the woman away, the DEM said. The man jumped in and attempted to rescue her. The Coast Guard found them, but they died at Newport Hospital.
Their names have not been released yet, pending family notification.
Yesterday's nor'easter churned up waves between six and eight feet high around Jamestown, the DEM said.
