Walmart, Stop & Shop Store Offer Coronavirus Vaccine In RI
Four Rhode Island Stop and Shop stores will offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

NEWPORT, RI — As Rhode Island ramps up its coronavirus vaccine effort, residents now have more options to get their shot. Starting Thursday, certain Walmart and Stop & Shop pharmacies will start offering directly scheduled vaccine appointments, similar to the model used by CVS and Walgreens.
Four Stop & Shop pharmacies will offer vaccine appointments to start: East Providence, North Smithfield, Lincoln and Warwick Avenue in Warwick. These sites will offer the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Appointments can be schedule on Stop & Shop's website.
Vaccines are available at nine Walmart stores in the state. Appointments can be scheduled on Walmart's website. Locations will be added to the company's interactive online map once they become available, according to Walmart's website. Customers are encouraged to check back frequently for more appointments. As is the case with all vaccine sites in Rhode Island, appointments are only available to groups deemed eligible by the Rhode Island Department of Health. At this time, the following groups can get vaccinated in Rhode Island:
- Teachers, school staff and child care workers
- Residents aged 60 and older
- Residents aged 16 to 64 with certain underlying health conditions
