Man Stabbed To Death Inside North Providence Cumberland Farms
Witnesses trailed the the fleeing suspect and police subdued him with a taser. A knife was found inside the store at Smith Street.

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — A man is dead and another is behind bars following a stabbing inside a Cumberland Farms convenience store.
North Providence police and fire on Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. received calls about a stabbing at the store at 2064 Smith Street. While on their way, dispatchers notified them that a suspect had fled from the scene and was being followed by several witnesses.
When police arrived, witnesses directed them to the location of the suspect, who was apprehended in the area of 2026 Smith Street after a brief struggle. Police subdued the suspect with a Taser and took him into custody, according to a news release from the North Providence Police Department.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say they found the knife used in the stabbing inside the store.The suspect was held at North Providence Police headquarters pending arraignment. Police said additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
