Later, at around 4 a.m., crews responded to a second fire at a vacant house on Hamlin Street. It is believed the fire started in the basement, and the cause is under investigation. That property was purchased by the city several years ago and there had been plans to demolish the structure and develop the property into a park and recreation area, Mayor Charles Lombardi tells WPRI-TV.
