North Providence Pets Now Eligible For Veterinary Vouchers
An Animal Welfare Grant will help low-income, elderly and disabled owners of cats and dogs cover the costs of shots and spaying.
NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — Mayor Charles A. Lombardi has joined forces with Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena to obtain a $7,500 grant to help low-income, elderly and disabled residents cover the costs of preventive veterinary care for their cats and dogs.
The Animal Welfare Grant was awarded by The Rhode Island Foundation.

Eligible services include the spaying and neutering of cats; rabies, distemper and parvo vaccinations; and feline IV testing for cats. Vouchers in the amount of $80 will be distributed for each eligible person for one cat or one dog only. The voucher is only good for the Salmon River Mobile vet.
North Providence and Johnston residents who fall into one of the three categories and desire eligible services for their pets should get a Pet Preventative Care Veterinary Voucher from the North Providence Animal Shelter. All appointments must be scheduled within 14 days of receiving the voucher.

Interested parties should contact animal control officer Ernest Calandra at ernest.calandra@northprovidenceri.gov or at (401) 231-4533, extension 1188.
The pet owner with a voucher must then schedule an appointment with Salmon River by calling (401) 793-0092 or going to www.rimobilevet.com.
