1. Gov. Dan McKee appeared at Tolman High School and signed a bill ensuring financial literacy education for all public school students in Rhode Island. Joining him were a host of dignitaries. Treasurer Seth Magaziner, who pushed for the bill, said teaching students about money will help all Rhode Islanders down the line. Turns out Tolman already teaches financial literacy. Read it on Patch.
2. Pawtucket lawyer Monica Horan has made the initial cut in her bid to become a judge. Horan was one of five to see their names forwarded to Gov. Dan McKee by the Judicial Nominating Commission. The chosen candidate will replace Judge Melissa Long, who ascended to the state Supreme Court. The lifetime appointment earns an annual base salary of $170,545. The Providence Journal has the story.

3. A new investigative report about a fatal shooting by Pawtucket police in 2016 "shows some discrepancies between what Pawtucket officials said and what the investigation found," reports Amanda Milkovits for The Boston Globe. Dominique Silva, 24, was killed by an officer responding to a call about an armed drug robbery. "The plastic BB gun found near his body was actually retrieved from the street by police and placed there,” the Globe states. A new report about the shooting was released Tuesday by the Rhode Island Accountability Project.
4. Pawtucket resident Tracey May has been named to the Board of Directors of the Greater Boston Food Bank. “Hunger is an issue no one should have to endure,” said May, whose resume shows both corporate experience and heart. Patch has the story.
5. Pawtucket Parks & Rec will hold two summer camp sessions for Pawtucket kids ages 6-13 at Slater Memorial Park. Sessions run from July 6 through July 23 and July 26 through Aug. 13. It's only $30 a session. Visit the Valley Breeze for more information.
