Pawtucket Mayor's Scholarship Program Accepting Applications

Seniors planning to attend an accredited vocational technical school, or a two-year or four-year college or institution, are eligible.

PAWTUCKET, RI — Seniors attending Pawtucket public schools are invited to apply for the Mayor's Scholarship Program.

Students planning to attend an accredited vocational technical school, or a two-year or four-year college or institution, are eligible for scholarship consideration.

Mayor Donald R. Grebien, the Pawtucket City Council, and the Pawtucket School Department made the announcement today. The scholarship is funded through a grant provided by the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation and Southern Sky Renewable Energy RI.

“We are excited to be offering this scholarship program for a third year,” said Grebien, who extended thanks to all parties. “This can be a very uncertain time for our high school seniors and we hope that this scholarship can help put some of the apprehension aside."

Patrick Murray, president and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank, said the bank and its charitable foundation are proud and pleased to help young people defray the costs of higher education. "The Foundation places a particular emphasis on education and literacy within the communities we serve, so this scholarship program is a perfect fit with our mission,” he said.

The deadline to apply is May 28, 2021. Seniors may obtain an application from their guidance counselor or view the application here. Anyone with questions on the program may contact ahebert@pawtucketri.com.

The Mayor’s Scholarship Program is designed to aid students from low and moderate-income families in the City of Pawtucket. All information provided will be kept confidential and only shared with the committee and appropriate staff members, the mayor's office said.
